Review from Mike (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1821, Created:20100316190229, Updated:20100316190358) | Purchased at: | Sigman Bottle Shop, Conyers, GA | | Purchased for: | Near 'bout $16 | | Proof Of this Bottle: | 90 | | Nose: | Smokey buttered corn and a wee touch of rye kinda crawl out of the glass and up your smeller. There seems to be a slight hint of raisins with a skosh of allspice or nutmeg or one of those soft spices. Interesting but quite shy. | | Taste: | On the soft side with its corny sweetness and cinnamony slow acting heat. Well balanced with a slice of oak and char adding a bit of structure. Smooth as a baby's butt. A little ole bit of dryness keeps the sweet and the spice from overplaying their hand. | | Finish: | Moderate, playful, subtle. | | Overall: | Shit y'all, this are a very nice whiskey, very nice indeed. So good in fact that I ain't gonna leave this here spot 'til my dog brings me another sip and, being of a generous nature, Imo let him have a sip of Old Crow from his own private collection. |

Review from BourbonDave (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1809, Created:20100217174056) | Purchased at: | Lexington, KY | | Purchased for: | $15 | | Info on this bottle: | Dickel No 12 | | Nose: | Soft, subtle and sweet. Not overpowering. Some char and oak up front but the vanilla fights through. | | Taste: | Some sweetness with a little tingle from the oak or alcohol. Buttery and silky, almost creamy. Kinda sweet and sour taste that is a nice change of pace. | | Finish: | The finish is really nice. Long and slow with a nice warmth in the throat. I was suprised the finish was this good. | | Overall: | I'm really impressed with this whisky. I can't really think of another pour for under 20 bucks that is this smooth. Give it a try you won't be dissappointed. |

| Purchased at: | MA | | Purchased for: | $20 | | Info on this bottle: | Dickel #12 | | Nose: | Nice. Resinous. Good char. A tad sour with a butterscotch-like slant. Suede style leather. A rye note. | | Taste: | Round. Full, with a fairly mild burn. Drinks nicely and less raspy than most 90 Proofers, you'd swear it was an 80. Smooth, a tad sandy = some charcoal. | | Finish: | Medium. Soft... | | Overall: | Hey, I like it better than the Select 2006, but I tend to think that bottle was left open for too long in the shoppe. It's not as complex, but good. I'll try the Select again when I have the opportunity.

Review from biggroan (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 1342, Created:20081106155813) | Purchased at: | internet | | Purchased for: | 80.00 | | Info on this bottle: | standard | | Nose: | [Olfactory impressions]initially when opened, a lot of charcoal seams to overload your senses.I always decant half the bottle, and leave the 2 for a week.now it is like a xmas cake. fabulous!!! | | Taste: | [Description of the initial taste impression]Once aired, itis super smooth, fruity and self assured. It is all in there. fruit, vanilla, oak, caramel,;oh heck mabee even the kitchen sink too, all perfectly mingled together. | | Finish: | [Description of the lingering taste impression]So smooth you cannot put it down unfortunately.warmth lasts for an age and you just want that feeling for ever.Abottle is too small [ and too dear over here.] | | Overall: | [Overall impression of this bottling]definately the best non bourbon bourbon there is, and up there with RHF and PVW20. Put me on a desert island with a shipwreck of this stuff and I'll be forever happy.. {PLEASE!!!!!} |

Review from Jon (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 781, Created:20070531124457) | Purchased at: | McScrooges, Knoxville , TN | | Purchased for: | Forgot/ 1.75L | | Proof Of this Bottle: | 90 | | Nose: | Soft and sweet with charred oak up front and vanilla, caramel, nutmeg. nice! | | Taste: | Definately light brown sugar and charred oak soon chased by vanilla caramel and custard with a dash of nutmeg and filberts. Very nice! | | Finish: | An excellent moderate finish with the flavors all hanging on till the burn is gone. No flavor outdoes the rest like the char, but it is a tennessee whiskey remember. And a very characteristic one at that. | | Overall: | I love bourbon and this isn't one. However, of all the tennessee whiskies I've partaken of, this is the only one I regularly replace, and actually the only one that remains a staple in my whiskey diet. The reason why; I mostly drink my bourbon warm and neat to get the most flavor and the George D. has too much char for my taste straight. And here's the BUT, I like it better in coke or ale81 than any bourbon period!!! |

Review from Mike (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 622, Created:20061030153415, Updated:20061030181546) | Purchased at: | Sigman Bottle Shop, Conyers, GA | | Purchased for: | $16 | | Proof Of this Bottle: | 90 | | Nose: | A nose that is not pushy but subtle and almost delicate. A whiff of the charcoal and oak gives way to some rye, leather, caramel, popcorn, raisins, and apricots. I like this nose, it pleases me! | | Taste: | A nice skosh of fruit, raisins and apricots...then some corn and cinnamon pepper in perfect moderation. A smooth, tasty Tennessee whiskey with an understated, yet completely self-confident, balance. | | Finish: | A moderate finish in complete accord with the nose and taste. Nothing jumps timing here and all expectations are met. It just slides down your mouth with ease and skill. | | Overall: | I liked ole George the first time I met him and I like him now.
Ladies and gentlemen, sit back in yo seat and enjoy the ride, cause George knows the scenic route and will have you oohing and aahing as you sip in comfort.
Reminds me of a first class character actor, one who doesn't draw attention to himself, but if you watch him or her carefully, they will steal the show...........Chris Cooper comes to mind (the best in the business).........I bet he drinks Dickle! |

Review from Mike (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 437, Created:20060330143108, Updated:20060330153424) | Purchased at: | Sigman Bottle Shop, Conyers, GA | | Purchased for: | $15.99 | | Nose: | A bit of char along with the rye present first. Then there is the corn, a nice bit of dry oak, vanilla, caramel, leather, and a wonderful little surprise.........dark dried fruit, mostly cherries. | | Taste: | Along comes the corn sweetness and dark cherries, pushed aside at mid-palate by the rye spice. A very pleasing taste that holds on because this whisky is nicely viscous. | | Finish: | A moderately long finish that leaves the mouth refreshed, clean, and lively. Just enough character to keep you interested in the next sip. | | Overall: | A very good pour, balanced and interesting, with a decent finish. |

Review from bourbonv (BourbonEnthusiast Review ID 115) | Purchased at: | Liquor Outlet in Shively | | Info on this bottle: | Standard bottle from liqor store | | Proof Of this Bottle: | 90 | | Nose: | Candy corn and some peppery spice with a little smoke. | | Taste: | Smooth with no alcohol burn at all. Caramel with a little corn and a lot of oak. A little smoky on the end | | Finish: | Dry oak and candy corn caramel. Not real long lasting but long enough. | | Overall: | This is a good whisky. It is a little older than it was designed to be and as a result has a lot of oak in the taste. Other than that it really is as George used to say, "Mellow as Moonlight". |
